Health Development

Our integrated approach in Indonesia fosters healthier communities and economies in high-risk areas by promoting healthy behavior and improving access to quality health care. CHF's programs are addressing serious health risks in Indonesia (such as malaria, HIV/AIDS, avian influenza, tuberculosis, and dengue fever) by strengthening capacity at both the community and national levels through awareness, education, training and service provision

CHF's health-related programs in Indonesia include:

  • skills upgrading for community-level health workers (volunteers, nurses and midwives);
  • development of health communications strategies for priority health concerns;
  • avian influenza prevention;
  • rehabilitation and equipping of health centers; and
  • the provision of emergency health care, commodities and equipment in disaster response settings.

CHF is also active in a range of environmental health initiatives, including: community water supply and sanitation systems development; a "healthy markets" program to improve market hygiene and food safety; and vector control to decrease exposure to water-borne illnesses.
